Sustainability is more than just a buzzword at StormGeo. But don't take our word for it — check out some of the concrete ways we're pushing the envelope (and pushing our clients along with it).
We support offshore wind production worldwide, providing enough *energy to power 32.8 million homes each day.
With 68,000 voyages routed per year in 2018 and 2019, StormGeo helped our shipping clients save approximately 1.3 million MT fuel with **weather routing, averting 3.9 million MT of CO2 from ending up in the atmosphere and ocean.
***Economic losses caused by weather events, including floods, storms and hurricanes, in 2017 worldwide. 59% of all business disruptions are caused by weather.
*Supporting 75 wind farms, each producing 400 MW on average with a capacity factor of about 50% (IEA, 2019), delivering energy to households with an energy consumption of 4000 kWh per year (Enerdata, 2017).
**This figure assumes an average 2.5% fuel reduction by weather routing (GloMEEP, [no date]; ICCT, 2011), 3:1 CO2 to fuel savings (Krantz, 2016), a fuel consumption of 30 MT per day and average speed of 12.5 kn per hour, and using annual averages of distance, days and fuel consumption per route.

The Harmful Effects of Single Use Plastics
By the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. As 75% of our work is done on the ocean, we're working to keep those waters clean. Our employees have taken the pledge to reduce their consumption of single-use plastics, now solely using StormGeo stainless steel straws and reusable water bottles. While these efforts may seem small, see why these kinds of steps are so important...
