StormGeo Secures Strategic Partnership with the Turkish Shipowners' Association, Delivering s-Suite to All Member Companies

22.03.2023

StormGeo, a leading provider of weather intelligence and decision-support solutions for the shipping industry and part of Alfa Laval, signed a strategic partnership with the Turkish Shipowners’ Association (TSA), a professional organization ensuring solidarity and cooperation between Turkish and global maritime stakeholders. StormGeo will provide a complete s-Suite solution to all TSA member companies.

As part of TSA’s mission to digitalize and decarbonize the operations of the shipping industry in the region, StormGeo has been brought as a partner and expert in decarbonization.

"For over one year, TSA has been looking for a solution to help us decarbonize and digitalize our operations. During that time, we evaluated offers from about 15 software companies,” says Cihan Ergenc, Chairman of the Board of the Turkish Shipowners’ Association and Chairman of ER Denizcilik. "Finally, our committee chose StormGeo as a strategic partner to look into the future of digitalization, environmental regulation, and performance quality. StormGeo’s solutions will benefit us significantly and add value to our ships' management quality."

StormGeo's Project Manager for Fleet Performance Management, Yunus Kaya, has been driving the communication with TSA throughout the procurement project. He mentions: "Since our first meeting with the Turkish Shipowners' Association, we have listened to the demands of Turkish shipowners and also brainstormed on how to follow up on the newly enacted regulations such as CII. I am confident that this strategic partnership will greatly contribute to Turkish shipowners and world maritime."

StormGeo will use manual and high-frequency data to support the Turkish shipowner community in achieving their ambitious targets. To ensure data quality, the parties bring onboard Danelec, a Danish marine technology provider, for marine operations' safety, cost, and efficiency. Danelec’s solution will provide data collection, aggregation, and transfer to s-Suite.

The partnership brings a lot of optimism to the regional maritime forces taking leadership in making net-zero targets achievable. Chf. Eng. Emre Reha Güven, Environmental Management Superintendent at Arkas Shipping, concludes: "We are happy to announce that we have signed a full-service package agreement with StormGeo, our companion since 2018, on our journey to a net zero emission target."

On March 9, 2023, StormGeo and the TSA held an official signing ceremony in Istanbul, Turkey.

"On behalf of StormGeo, I would like to express our gratitude to the Turkish Shipowner association and its members for their warm hospitality. And for a very professional and challenging process helping drive energy efficiency, decarbonization, and digitalization in the Turkish fleet," says Espen Martinsen, Executive Vice President Sales at StormGeo.

Turkish shipowner companies have been using StormGeo’s one-stop shipping software solution before.
